On a gray afternoon, the last day of 2012, Allison and Katherine and her friend from college and another friend from college from the left coast and his boyfriend found a hidden gem, the Fischer Landau Center for Art. The elderly Mrs. Landau was an avid collector of contemporary art, and has amassed an amazing collection of a Warhol portrait (flattering), and other masters: Georgia O’Keefe, Edward Ruscha, Nan Goldin, Edward Mapplethorpe, Matthew Barney, Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns and others we should probably be familiar with. Nothing ironic to say here, folks. Just damn good art. For free. In Queens. That’s what this project is about.
